Our journey is not linear. It is light and dark, up and down, happy and sad. When we look to the distance, we see the mountaintops. What we don’t see are the valleys in between. It is there, in the valleys, that we falter and fear for we cannot see. It is dark.
Darkness is not a fun place to be. Some are afraid of the dark. Others are in such deep grief they just want the mountaintop. We must walk through the darkness of the valley to get to the mountaintop. We do not have to walk alone. God tells us in Psalm 23 he will be our shepherd and be with us as we walk through the valley. God is light. (1 John 1:5) His Word will light our way. (Psalm 119:105)
How do we find the light? It has always been there. Waiting. Pursuing. It may have dimmed by the circumstances that have happened on our journey. But He is there. We need to turn on a lamp, open the curtains or walk outside when it is day. We must engage with the light. When we feel the darkness settling in around us, we must open God’s Word and read until the darkness fades and the light shines on the path our hearts.
God seeks our engagement with him and his Word. There are many examples in Scripture of God pursuing those he loves. He is always pursuing his children.
“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in Me will not remain in darkness.” ~ John 12:46.
He is love and He is light. He is waiting. Engage with God. He loves you.

I love this! So important to turn away from the dark and difficulties! Turn our minds toward Light! Light breaks the darkness…not the other way around!
