We live in a broken world where benefits are few. Most often we’re looking straight into the eyes of difficulty and suffering. We often hear statements like the following: “My life has changed completely.” “My dreams are shattered.” “My life is not what I expected.” “People have hurt me, even church people.” “I don’t see any benefits.”
But God has granted us the most amazing benefits we would ever ask for. He doesn’t go back on His promises. He gives them freely out of His magnificent love for us. Often God grants us mercies we cannot see because we are living with blinders on. Let’s take off those blinders and investigate God’s Word and see the grace he has granted us. God’s grace is evidence of His deeply felt care for us, His children.
He forgives our sins.
Every sin, not just some, but all sins we have ever committed have been forgiven by our loving Savior. They are truly forgiven band forgotten by a holy and righteous heavenly Father.
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” ~ Psalm 103:12
He has removed out sin from us through the glorious sacrifice of His only Son on the cross.
He Heals our diseases.
Sickness; some condition of illness. Every disease is rectified. It is not always resolved the way we wish it to be. Jesus has a plan that is for His glory and our good even when we don’t see it. Though we may not escape physical death; we will experience eternal life. “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish-ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” ~ John 10:28-29
Most often in Scripture healing refers to the spiritual part of a person. We are diseased with sin. God in His great mercy can excise the wound that is sin in us. We may be left with scars, but those scars are reminders of where we have been and what our loving God has done for us.
He Redeems us from the pit.
God often removes us from places where snares are laid; the valley; places of bondage, physical harm, slavery, debt, dark valley, deep darkness.
“Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me. “~ Psalm 23:4.
He is always with us; leading us , as a shepherd, on the path that is best for us.
“Yet he knows the way I have taken; when he has tested me, I will emerge as pure gold.” ~Job 23:10
Yield to Him. Following the example of Jesus at Gethsemane.
“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” ~ Matt 26:39
Again, there is nothing beyond the redemptive reach of our loving Father.
As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. ~ Psalm 103:12
He Crowns us with steadfast love and mercy.
The word crown here means “to surround” which indicates God is doing a few amazing things.
- He is surrounding us with Himself. We are not alone in our circumstances and suffering. He is walking beside us (Psalm 23:4)
- He is surrounding us with his love. What kind of love? Steadfast and faithful love. This is the kind of love that stays, never changes, is eternal.
- He is surrounding usus with God kind of mercy. Not getting the punishment we deserve. If a person throws himself on the mercy of the court, he is asking the judge to be lenient. God is more than lenient because Jesus has already taken the punishment we deserve. Our debt has already been paid by Jesus on the cross. Hallelujah!
He Satisfies us with good things.
Though we like to think so, it’s not external things that satisfy, but spiritual satisfaction that only comes from God through the finished work of Jesus. This is the Good News, the Gospel of His heart.
All these benefits come from God through Jesus Christ. These are not the only benefits our Father bestows on us. As you seek Jesus, you will discover many more benefits from the mighty and loving hand of God our Father.
May I challenge you to read Psalm 103 in its entirety and spend some time thinking about and praising God for the benefits you find there.
Additionally, spend some time with pen and paper; write down some of the benefits He has granted you personally. “Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.” ~ Psalm 66:5

That’ll preach! So good. Grabbing a pen and paper and writing down those benefits.❤️
Mercy! Just like the song lyrics, “nobody knows the trouble I see, nobody knows my sorrows…” Only each one’s heart, understands the Mercy He has surrounded us with!
“Glory hallelujah!”
